Uttam Ghosh

Uttam Ghosh is a Professor of Computer Science and Data Science at Meharry Medical College, where he serves as Founder and Director of the Cybersecurity Research Center and the NSA-funded DISCS Lab in the School of Applied Computational Sciences. He is also a member of the Meharry Faculty Senate and Research AdvisorybCouncil (RAC) and received the 2026 Teacher of the Year Award. Previously, he was an Assistant Professor at Vanderbilt University, where he earned the 2018–2019 Junior Faculty Teaching Fellow Award. He holds M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in E&ECE from Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur and has held postdoctoral appointments at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, Fordham University, and Tennessee State University. His research is supported by NSF, NSA, DoW, DoE, NASA, and TMCF, with over 190 publications and eight edited books. He is recognized among the top 2% of most-cited scientists (Stanford–Elsevier) and is a Senior Member of IEEE and member of ACM. His research focuses on Cybersecurity, AI/ML, and Quantum Computing.
